Lifestyle Changes: Week 1

This pandemic is the perfect opportunity for us ladies and fellas to work on things we’ve been wanting to work on; like a lifestyle change. Health and fitness is one of my main focus during this time. The first integrant of wellness that is an essential part of my lifestyle change is physical wellness, which requires eating well, exercising, avoiding harmful habits and making responsible decisions. My goal for Physical wellness is to live a healthy and active lifestyle.

Changes can be miniscule. Something as simple as drinking only water instead of sugary drinks can be a staple in achieving your fitness and wellness goals. I start my day with a large glass of water, followed by a cup of green tea. Gyms are closed at the moment, instead I run outdoors for 1.5 to 2 miles /5 days a week, of course with a mask on. After my run I proceed to do a 20-30 min workout in a specified area of choice using my body weight. The best advice I can give is to make a schedule of your day and sticking with it. The top of the schedule should definitely be your workout. It is important to not think about it but get it done as soon as possible.

Most diets increase our cravings, and leave us wanting more. An easy and friendly diet to implement during this time is a low carb diet. Carb cycling is a good way to start limiting your carbohydrates intake. It is effective for weight loss and tends to be easier for individuals like myself, who finds it hard to stick with a diet.

For the next week I challenge you to implement a low carb diet, eliminate sugary drinks, and start your day with a good workout. Accountability is key, the best feeling is staying consistent and keeping your promises to yourself.
